If you are planning to audition for a modeling contract or for an agency then you should come to your audition composed prepared and ready to impress. Although it might be a stressful situation you need to put forth your best self so that not only your modeling skills but also your personality can shine through.

Clothing and Accessories

What you wear to your model audition can make or break you as a model. While many are tempted to wear high fashion couture to show off their knowledge of the industry the best outfit is a simple one that shows off your build and can be used by agents or designers to picture you in their clothes instead. Try a pair of skinny jeans and a simple tank top. You can pump up the style by wearing an interesting necklace or bracelet. Make sure that you wear heels no shorter that three inches.

Walking

If the person conducting the audition wants to see you walk remember to keep it simple. Walk strong but refrain from putting flair or anything extra at the end of the catwalk. A simple pose is all that you need for the agent or designer to assess your walk. While some might like your spunky style it may turn a different designer off from using you. Also refrain from smiling on the catwalk. The person running the audition is not looking for a facial expression they are examining the way you walk and analyzing how it will translate.

Interview

If there is an interview portion of the model audition this is the time that you can truly let your personality shine through. Smile and stay positive while being interviewed. Talk about your strengths and weaknesses as a model and ask questions of the agent or designer. Listen carefully to what they are saying so that you can ask questions about it when they are done talking. Make sure that you come across as positive and easy to work with. Too many models are jaded and designers want models who are easy and stress-free additions to their rosters.
