Facials provide several benefits for your skin such as deep cleaning toning and moisturizing. Home facials provide an additional benefit of saving you a lot of money. Take some time to pamper yourself and relax at home while not having to make appointments at expensive spas.
1. Remove makeup from your face with your regular cleanser or makeup remover and place a warm wash cloth over your face. The warm cloth will open your follicles help to deeply cleanse your skin and soften dead skin cells. Leave the wash cloth on for a few minutes then gently cleanse your face. Avoid scrubbing so you do not irritate your skin.
2. Eliminate toxins from your pores and increase blood circulation to your skin by steaming your face. Boil a small pot of water and pour over a facial teabag in a bowl. Let the tea bag steep and cool for a few minutes. Drape a towel over your head and lean over the bowl with your face about 20 inches from the water. If you have large pores or sensitive skin your face should be more than 24 inches from the water. Do not steam for more than 5 minutes.
3. Mask your face to draw out dirt oil and impurities and to tone and nourish your skin. Use a claybased mask for younger or oilier skin. Oatmeal masks are good for mature skin. Other options are a chamomile gel mask or a honey and aloe vera gel mask with vitamin E.
4. Apply toner with a cotton ball to clear skin of mask residue and any remaining dead skin cells. Use aloe vera or an herbal toner with a witch hazel base. Wipe your face in upward and outward strokes. Do not use alcohol based toners because they will dry out your skin. Lastly moisturize your face with your favorite moisturizer.
